Glasgow 1770 Ruby Port Cask Finish, 54% ABV, 7 Year Old

Last year we released our first age statement Ruby Port Cask Finish single malt and were blown away by the response it received. The whisky sold out across not only the UK, but our export markets, with a flash becoming one of our most standout Glasgow 1770 releases. Now, we're excited for its return, bigger and better.

This new release continues a maturation style that we believe perfectly showcases the character of our unpeated single malt. Bottled at 54% ABV, aged for 7 years, and limited to 1200 bottles.

For this release, we've once again paired our fruity double distilled unpeated single malt with Ruby Port casks. The result is a whisky that allows both spirit and cask influence to shine through the extended maturation period.

We began by maturing the whisky in first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels for 3 years and 10 months. These casks helped develop classic notes of vanilla, creaminess and gentle oak while preserving the rich fruit character of our unpeated spirit.

The whisky was then transferred into Ruby Port hogsheads, where it spent a further 3 years and 11 months maturing. During this extended secondary maturation, the whisky has developed layers of red fruit, dark cherry sweetness and subtle spice, while retaining the elegance and freshness we look for in our unpeated whisky style.

The key difference between Batch 1 and Batch 2 is the age. The casks used are sister casks of Batch 1 that have simply been left maturing for an extra year. That extra time has brought greater depth and complexity to the whisky. The fruit notes are richer, the texture is fuller, and the balance between spirit character and cask influence feels even more refined.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Fresh strawberries and vibrant vanilla lead the way to notes of raspberries dipped in milk chocolate with slight hints of fresh eucalyptus and pine.
Palate: The palate is bursting with summer fruits and rich dark cherries. Rich fresh cream and marzipan lead to notes of sweet almonds and strawberries.
Finish: The finish is long and satisfying with notes of sweet fruity pink peppercorn spice and oak tannins.
