Glasgow 1770 Ruby Port Cask Finish
Here we have the second batch of Glasgow 1770 Ruby Port Cask Finish Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
Our unpeated single malt style that has initially been matured in first fill ex-Bourbon barrels before a healthy second maturation of just under 4 years within Ruby Port casks.
Batch 2 is 7 years old, which is a year older than 2025’s sell-out first release.
Bottled at 54% ABV, this is a fruity single malt with notes of summer berries, dark cherries, rich vanilla, marzipan, sweet almond, and a light pink peppercorn spice.
Our mission
The name ‘Glasgow 1770’ is a tribute to the founding date of the original ‘Glasgow Distillery Company’. Our city once boasted over 30 working whisky distilleries, and the original ‘Glasgow Distillery’, as they were known for a time, were one of the largest in the world until 1902, when it closed its doors. We take on their legacy with a mission to bring quality Glasgow-made spirits back to our city and to the world.
Glasgow 1770 Ruby Port Cask Finish
Ruby Port Cask Finish, Batch 2, is a 7 year old single malt presented at 54% ABV and limited to 1200 bottles. After a sell-out success in 2025, this second batch is expected to sell out quickly. This release is part of our annual age statement releases that celebrate our favourite whisky production style and maturation combinations.
Production Summary
Barley: unpeated malted barley sourced from around the UK.
Water: our local soft Scottish water sourced from Loch Katrine.
Yeast: A minimum of 72 hours of fermentation within our washbacks using MG Pinnacle Distillers Yeast, which gives us a rich and fruity flavour profile.
Distillation:
Two very slow distillations within our small copper pot stills; first within a 2,500 litre wash still, and then within a smaller 1,500 litre spirit still. These stills are run very slowly to produce a fruit-forward new make spirit.
When producing our unpeated double distilled style, we take a medium cut point of 72% - 63% when we capture our hearts. This gives us a fruity new make spirit that has a waxy tactility across the palate. This new make is then reduced to 63.5% ABV before being filled into casks for maturation.
Maturation:
This is a 7 year old bottling that marries together four casks. Initial maturation within first fill ex-Bourbon barrels for 3 years and 10 months, with an extended 3 year and 11 month secondary maturation within Ruby Port casks. The result is a single malt packed with rich summer fruits; notes of dark cherries and vibrant vanilla marry with a light pink peppercorn spice.
Bottling:
Glasgow 1770 Ruby Port Cask Finish is presented at a batch strength of 55% ABV. This product is non-chill filtered, which means we’re keeping as much flavour and mouth-tactility within the bottle as possible. This bottle is also presented at natural colour, the pink hued colour all comes from the wood that we use to mature the whisky, first in first fill ex-bourbon and then in Ruby Port casks.
The resulting single malt is rich and fruity, packed full of notes of summer berries, vibrant vanilla, and a light pink peppercorn spice.
