The Return of Bourbon Cask Matured

For our second batch of Glasgow 1770 Bourbon Cask Matured, we're focusing on celebrating the character of our spirit itself.

Whilst a lot of our whiskies, especially in our Small Batch Series, are defined by bold finishes or heavily active casks, this release takes a different approach. Matured exclusively in first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels for a minimum of eight years, Batch 2 is all about showcasing the fruity, tropical character at the heart of our double distilled whisky.

The result is a whisky packed with rich vanilla, floral honey, citrus fruit, shortbread and gentle sweet smoke, all wrapped up in a full-bodied dram bottled at 54% ABV.

Batch 2 is a marriage of eight casks in total, four unpeated and four peated, all fully matured in first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels.

By using Bourbon casks alone, we've allowed the spirit plenty of room to express itself throughout maturation. Rather than dominating the whisky, the casks complement the spirit, bringing layers of vanilla, sweetness and oak while allowing our signature fruit-forward character to remain front and centre.

It's a style of whisky that rewards patience, and after eight years in cask, we think the results speak for themselves.

One of the defining characteristics of Glasgow 1770 Bourbon Cask Matured is the combination of two distinct whisky styles. As with Batch 1, we've brought together equal parts of our double distilled unpeated single malt and our double distilled peated single malt. The unpeated spirit delivers bright fruit notes and sweetness, while the peated spirit adds texture, depth and a gentle smoky edge. Together, they create a whisky that balances tropical fruit and creamy vanilla and subtle layers of sweet smoke. It's a combination that has become a signature of this range and one that continues to evolve with age.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Floral honey and vanilla with a waft of sweet smoke. Floral undertones throughout with notes of toffee apples and buttery citrus fruits.
Palate: A velvet mouthfeel with notes of rich vanilla and double cream leading to tropical pineapple, sweet clementine orange and malty shortbread.
Finish: Long-lasting vanilla-forward finish with ongoing notes of sweet smoke and a rich oak spice.
