Small Batch Series focus: Glasgow 1770 Cognac Cask Finish

This release is a marriage of three casks; 18/965, 18/966 and 18/967, initially filled into first-fill ex-bourbon casks for just under 3 years. For a secondary maturation, the finish, these three casks were moved into French Cognac puncheon casks for a further two and a half years.

Primary maturation: 2 years and 10 months

Secondary maturation: 2 years and 6 months

What is Cognac?
Cognac is a brandy, specifically produced in the Cognac region of France, known for its rich and complex flavour profile derived from the distillation of wine and aging in oak barrels.

What’s the difference from the last Cognac release?
Last year in 2022, we released our first two bottlings of our Small Batch Series where we launched our first Cognac cask finish using our peated spirit. The previous peated release started out in virgin oak casks before finishing in the cognac cask. With this Cognac Cask Finish, we’re using our Triple Distilled unpeated spirit, which was primarily matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks.

The apple and pear notes commonly found in our Signature Range Triple Distilled single malt are highlighted with the Cognac cask finish extending layers of green apples, poached pears and a rich vanilla undertone. A fantastically fruity release that demonstrates the smooth and vibrant qualities found in our increasingly wide portfolio of Triple Distilled single malts.
