The Glasgow 1770 Calvados Cask Finish release is a six year old bottling, the contents of a single cask that was initially matured in a first fill ex-bourbon barrel before a finishing period in a French Calvados Brandy cask.

Calvados is a French Brandy made in the Normandy region of northern France, famed for its extensive apple and pear orchards. Distilled from fermented apple cider, Calvados is matured for a minimum of two years before bottling.

Glasgow 1770 Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Calvados Cask Finish, is the first time we have used this type of cask for maturation. Cask No. 17/815 was filled on the 23rd of May 2017 with our signature double distilled unpeated style before the contents were transferred into the Calvados barrel for a finishing period of two years and five months before bottling on the 20th of June 2023.

Bottled at 58.7% ABV with 270 bottles available, this release is a lovely Spring inspired marriage of our distillery's fresh and fruity unpeated style with notes of caramel and vanilla gained from the initial first fill ex-bourbon cask, before notes of baked apple pie, poached pears and rich baking spices are contributed by the Calvados influence.

Tasting Notes
The Nose
Fresh green apples and poached pear on the nose complemented by vibrant vanilla and citrus, with hints of baking spices and dark fruits.

The Palate
The palate is packed with freshly sliced apple, tropical fruit, hints of kiwi, vanilla custard, stone fruits and a slight oak spice.

The Finish
The finish is long and satisfying with notes of caramel and baked apple pie with a dusting of nutmeg.
