We have partnered with leading independent retailer Aberdeen Whisky Shop to release a remarkable new limited-edition single cask bottling - an exclusive collaboration showcasing our signature unpeated double distilled style through a rare Amontillado Sherry cask maturation.

Selected by the team at Aberdeen Whisky Shop, Cask No.17/230 began its journey as a first fill ex-Bourbon barrel matured single malt before undergoing an extended secondary maturation in an Amontillado Sherry hogshead for more than six years. Bottled at 9 years old and at a natural cask strength of 59.1% ABV, only 270 bottles are available.

The result is a richly layered and nuanced single malt offering notes of earthy hazelnut, sweet caramel, rich vanilla and dried dark fruits, leading into a lingering finish of dark chocolate and warming spice.

Amontillado sherry casks remain rare within Scotch whisky maturation. The sherry itself undergoes a unique dual-ageing process, beginning life as a delicate Fino matured beneath a protective layer of flor yeast. The wine is then fortified with brandy, removing the flor and exposing it to oxygen, allowing deeper, richer and more complex dried fruit characteristics to develop through oxidative ageing.

This release marks the first-ever Amontillado cask-matured Glasgow 1770 Single Malt released in the UK - a distinctive bottling chosen by the team at Aberdeen Whisky Shop following a visit to the distillery earlier this year.

After sampling a range of single casks, the team selected Cask No.17/230 for its exceptional balance, depth and individuality. Nick Sullivan, Founder of Aberdeen Whisky Shop, described the whisky as: "Complex, yet well-balanced and totally unique. It's an absolutely brilliant cask that we fell in love with straight away."
