Double Win for Glasgow 1770 'Peated' and 'The Original' at Prestigious International Whisky Competition

We are delighted to announce that Glasgow 1770 Single Malt Scotch Whisky - Peated Release No.1. and Glasgow 1770 Single Malt Scotch Whisky - The Original have picked up the 'Gold' and 'Silver' medal for ‘Best Lowland Single Malt’ at this year’s International Whisky Competition, with Glasgow 1770 Peated Release No.1. scoring a total of 87.9 points out of a possible 100.

All whiskies were blind taste tested on an individual basis with judges spending 8 minutes on each, judging the whisky on 15 different criteria. Judges were then asked to produce tasting notes alongside aroma and flavour profiles. After collecting the results, each whisky was then given a score on a 100-point scale, a scale which was developed by Sebastien Gavillet, IWC Head of Tasting Panel.

- 1st Place / Gold: 1770 Glasgow Single Malt Scotch Whisky - Peated Release No.1 (87.9 Points)

- 2nd Place / Silver: 1770 Glasgow Single Malt Scotch Whisky - The Original 2019 Release

- 3rd Place: Auchentoshan American Oak Single Malt Scotch Whiskey

Only three medals are awarded in any specific category, so we are understandably delighted that Glasgow 1770 Single Malt has picked up two of three potential awards.

Since the beginning of 2019, Glasgow 1770 Single Malt has shared gold medal status with some of the world’s greatest spirits across multiple competitions including: The San Francisco World Sprits Competition, The International Spirits Challenge, Scotch Whisky Masters, The China Wine and Spirits Awards and The Scottish Whisky Awards. We are understandably even more delighted to be adding The International Whisky Competition to this list.
