1770 Scores A Hat-Trick At Inaugural Scottish Whisky Awards

The winners of the inaugural Scottish Whisky Awards were revealed at a sell-out event held in Edinburgh last night, where over 400 guests waited with baited breath to find out who would be crowned the crème de la crème in the world of Scottish Whisky.

This afternoon, we are delighted to announce that 1770 Glasgow Single Malt Scotch Whisky managed to capture the attention of a 32-strong judging panel from the UK, mainland Europe and Asia, proudly taking home three awards across both ‘Business Performance’ and ‘Taste’ categories.

In the ‘Business Performance’ categories, 1770 Whisky won the title of ‘Excellence in Branding’, as well as taking home a ‘Highly Commended’ award for ‘Product Launch of the Year’, sitting proudly alongside the category winner, Johnnie Walker White Walker, for their internationally recognised Game Of Thrones campaign.

In the ‘Taste’ category, 1770 reached the final alongside thirteen other fantastic whiskies in the ‘Single Malt-No Age Statement’ category and took home a ‘Silver’ medal, beating off stiff competition from the likes of Highland Park, Arran Whisky and Glen Moray.

Winning a Scottish Whisky Award at the inaugural competition is a great achievement for us, let alone being recognised three times across several different categories. It’s an honour to know that 1770 is holding its own, especially considering the scrupulous blind assessment from an esteemed panel of specialist judges .

The quality of talent, not just from the winners, but from those who were nominated clearly demonstrates the strength of the Scotch Whisky industry today and we are so proud to play our part in something that is so loved and respected around the globe, not just here in Scotland.
