The Glasgow 1770 Manzanilla Sherry Cask Matured release is a five year old single cask that uses our double distilled unpeated single malt with a full term maturation within a refill Manzanilla Sherry butt that was previously filled with our peated single malt.

Manzanilla sherry is a specific style of Fino sherry made in the Spanish coastal town of Sanlucar de Barrameda and is famed for sherry maturation under a layer of yeast known as ‘flor’. The unique climate in this city; the elevation, the humidity, and the milder temperatures, allow this flor to develop, offering floral notes of chamomile, almonds and honey into the sherry’s maturing in their bodegas.

Glasgow 1770 Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Manzanilla Cask Matured has been bottled at 59% ABV with only 813 bottles available from the single cask, number 18/218. Our fruity double distilled unpeated spirit was filled into the Manzanilla cask on the 12th of March 2018 and bottled on the 25th of July 2023.

As our first release of a Manzanilla Sherry cask matured whisky, this is a perfect accompaniment to The Original flagship release; showcasing the fresh and fruity characteristics of our core style, alongside floral, saline and honeyed notes gained from the Manzanilla with a wisp of smoke contributed from the peated single malt that was filled into this cask prior to this release.

Tasting Notes
The Nose
On the nose notes of salinity, subtle smoke and dried apricots compliment toffee and a delicate floral honey sweetness.

The Palate
The palate is rich and full-bodied with notes of orange rind, tobacco and salted caramel alongside rich tropical papaya, mango, and plums, with hints of and hints of fresh ginger, floral honey and chamomile.

The Finish
The finish is big and bold with notes of dark chocolate, apple, vanilla, espresso, and light peppery spice.
