The International Whisky Competition (IWC) has just released its results for this year’s most respected blind tasting event, and we are delighted to announce that our Glasgow 1770 Single Malt has picked up a Gold Medal and has been crowned ‘Best Lowland Single Malt Whisky’ for a third consecutive year.

The 12th edition of the International Whisky Competition, which took place in Estes Park, Colorado over five days from May 12 to 16, was judged by a world-class tasting panel made up of whisky, spirit, beer, and wine experts.

After attributing 8 minutes of time to each dram in the competition, every whisky is then scored using a comprehensive 100-point scale system developed by Sebastien Gavillet, IWC Head of Tasting. This process and the fact that only three medals are awarded in any category, make the International Whisky Competition the most followed whisky competition and one of the most professional competitions of its kind in the world.

Liam Hughes, Co-Founder and CEO of The Glasgow Distillery said:

"We are very humbled by the fact that Glasgow 1770 Peated continues to pick up a host of internationally recognised awards. As well as picking up Gold in the ‘Best Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky’ category at the IWC, Glasgow 1770 Peated picked up a Gold Medal for a second consecutive year at The Scotch Whisky Masters just two weeks ago.

"Glasgow 1770 Peated also won a Gold at the Scottish Whisky Awards at the tail end of last year, beating the likes of  Arbdeg and Laphroaig to the title. This medal in particular felt like an astonishing win for us and something we still can't quite get our heads around."

Glasgow 1770 Peated is a rich, bold and smoky expression in the Glasgow 1770 Signature Range.

Crafted with the finest malted barley which has been smoked with the aromatic heather-rich peat of the Scottish Highlands; combined with the exceptionally pure water of Loch Katrine and distilled in our traditional copper pot stills. Matured in virgin oak and finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered and natural in colour, this is a smoky single malt with outstanding character.

Experience notes of vibrant vanilla, rich toffee, dried tobacco, salted caramel and a lingering lasting spice.
